I recently had a powerful and Spirit-filled coffee meeting with Brian Halsby, one of the leaders at Heartlines, the organization behind the What’s Your Story? initiative. We spoke deeply about the communities of Windsor East and Sophiatown, and how God is stirring something fresh in these places.

Out of that conversation, we felt led to bring a localized version of What’s Your Story? into these communities—a discussion forum launching in May, where pastors, leaders, and organizations—both formal and informal, from different cultures and racial backgrounds—can come together to share their stories.

Why stories?

Because stories help us understand each other. They break down walls, heal misunderstandings, and open the door for deeper connection and meaningful collaboration. Through stories, we begin to see people—not just problems. We hear the heart, the pain, the hope, and the possibilities.

Our goal is to create a space where churches and community organizations that don’t usually interact can come together, learn from one another, and discern how we can collectively serve and uplift our communities.

We’re aiming to launch this forum in May, focusing first on Windsor East and Sophiatown, and then potentially expanding as God leads.

Here’s how you can help:

Do you know a pastor, leader, or community organization that would be open to sharing and listening? Please connect us.

Be in prayer for this initiative.

If you’d like to be part of the organizing team, let me know—we’re building this together.

Let’s watch what God does as we sit down, listen to one another’s stories, and move together with compassion and unity.
